What is a Trust?
A Trust School is a local authority foundation school which is supported by a charitable foundation – a trust. A foundation school is a school with charitable status, maintained by the local authority, which owns the land and assets, employs the staff and is responsible for pupil admissions. In this degree of self-government, it is like a voluntary aided school.
The Trust is made up of the school and partner organisations who work together for the benefit of the trust.
