Secondary Taster session for Village Primary School
With the transition of Primary school to Secondary school being an important stage for students, Derby Moor Community School offer students the opportunity to visit them as part of a Secondary School taster, where they will be integrated into classes to work alongside their current students and experience their teaching methods.
Twelve Gifted and Talented students from Village Primary School were selected to attend a taster day in a Level 5-7 mathematics class. These students worked alongside the students at Derby Moor on a variety of challenging tasks, that were designed to promote discovery learning. This method of learning is a powerful one as it encourages students to be actively engaged, promotes motivation and gives a great sense of accomplishment. Students worked on topics such as Bearings, Angles in Parallel Lines and Distance Time-Graphs.
All students were engaged and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
