Trust Partners help raise the status and professionalism of Teaching.
Four members of Derby Moor teaching staff received their Master of Arts in Education Award from the University of Derby. Mr Martin, Mr Carline, Miss Davies and Ms Smith all attended a Presentation of Awards Ceremony at the University of Derby on Wednesday 14th January 2015 where they were presented with their awards by Mr Chris Warren, Dean of College of Education.
Miss Davies was also presented with the Highest Academic Achievement Award (Partner Cohort).
Derby Moor is committed to the Continual Professional Development of their staff and has been successfully running the MA in Education programme for 5 years. The school has had nearly 30 members of staff go through the programme which is delivered by the schools Trust Partner, The University of Derby.
Ms Whelan was delighted for the members of staff “I am extremely proud of the achievements of all our staff who have been awarded a Masters. By working with our Trust partner, the University of Derby we are able to help raise the status and professionalism of teaching and develop our own staff and therefore outcomes for students”
Ms Whelan knows only too well what hard work and commitment is needed to complete the course as she herself has also completed the Masters.
“Studying at Masters Level and being a Principal is demanding and not for the faint hearted! It has helped rationalise and develop my thinking about strategic direction and broadened my learning around key areas of my post and education in the UK (especially politically)” said Ms Whelan.
The members of staff are joined by Miss Ford who started her masters at Derby Moor but is now teaching in Dubai.
