University of Derby
The University of Derby's College of Education has a tradition of excellence, having received consistently ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted results for our teacher training provision. We boast strong courses, focusing on students as individuals, which prepare our future teachers and education professionals for the challenges of 21st century teaching and learning. In a climate of almost constant change, the education agenda is sometimes influenced by rapid shifts in policy and the needs of the contemporary workplace. Our aim is to prepare students to meet these challenges as they are translated to the modern classroom and other education settings.
The College has a strong sense of community, with Year 1 and 2 Bachelor of Education students hosting a charity week each year to raise money for a good cause. The 2014 Charity Week saw our students raise over £9,000.
Priding itself on offering a more supportive learning environment, with greater personal attention given to students than in other UK universities, the University of Derby delivers a rewarding learning experience with a personal touch. For the University of Derby, quality and opportunity translates into a learning environment for our students which is innovative and interactive; encourages questions; is stimulated by challenge; creates communities; and embraces inclusivity.
